Desktop app for DAM

ImageKit's desktop application for quick access to Digital Asset Management on Windows and macOS.

ImageKit offers a native app that allows users to quickly access its Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform on Windows and MacOS. With this app, you can browse and search your assets, create new folders, upload files and folders, and perform operations such as copying file URLs and downloading files.

Additionally, you can click to open assets directly on the web platform to utilize all available features. The app also supports drag-and-drop functionality, making it easy to move files between it and other applications.

Installation

To start using the ImageKit DAM App, download it from the ImageKit website. After installation, open the app and log in with your ImageKit account credentials.

Platform availability

The ImageKit DAM App is available for Windows and macOS. Download the appropriate version for your operating system from the ImageKit website.

How to update the app?

The app ensures you always have the latest features and improvements with automatic updates. When a new version is available, it is downloaded in the background, and the update is applied automatically the next time you open the app.

If you prefer to apply the latest update immediately, you can select the "Relaunch to update app" option in the profile dropdown menu whenever an update is available.

Browse assets

The app offers an intuitive interface similar to the web platform, allowing you to navigate your assets easily. You can view your files, folders, and media collections with sorting options. Additionally, you can switch between grid and list views for convenient browsing.

Search assets

The search bar at the top of the app allows you to search for files, folders, tags, and media collections. The autocomplete search feature suggests possible matches as you type, helping you quickly locate the assets you need.

This feature is the same as the search functionality available on the ImageKit web platform. Read more about it here.

Create folder

To create a new folder at the current path, click the "New" button in the app and select "Create folder" from the menu.

Upload files and folders

Click on the "New" button in the app and select "Upload files" or "Upload folder" to upload files or folders to your ImageKit account at the correct path.

You can also drag and drop files directly into the app to initiate upload.

Open assets in the browser

The app allows you to open files, folders, and media collections in your browser. Hover over an asset and click the "Open in browser" icon to access it on the ImageKit web platform. This feature is useful when you need to perform advanced operations on assets that are not available in the app.

Copy file URLs

To copy a file's URL, hover over it and click on the "Copy URL" icon. This feature is helpful for quickly sharing links to specific files.

Download files

To download a file, hover over it and click on the "Download" icon. The file will be downloaded to your system.

Drag and drop functionality

One useful feature of the ImageKit DAM App is its drag-and-drop functionality. You can click and hold on a file within the app and drag it to your desired location in your operating system or into another running application, such as Photoshop. This seamless operation allows you to work efficiently without switching between applications.
